Recently, I was asked by Ana-Marie Jones, Executive Director of CARD (Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disasters) a small nonprofit in Oakland, CA to participate in a social media promotional campaign to promote CESA’s (California Emergency Services Association) 2010 Conference in Monterey, CA. I was also asked to be “non-virtual” and attend the conference to help with the cyber cafe. There had never been a “cyber cafe” at CESA and they had never promoted their conference in the social media circle. I was honored to become a part of CESA history.

Have you ever made the mistake of relying on your spell checker for accurately spelling everything in your documents? When I was in college, I didn’t have the technology at my disposal to check my documents for spelling and grammar mistakes. I had to rely on myself; not a spell check program. An annoyance at the time, but now, years later, I am delighted with what I once perceived as an “annoyance.”
